U.D.P. Wants Minister and C.E.O. of Home Affairs Gone

Michael Peyrefitte

The Minister of Health and Wellness is not the only one the U.D.P. wants to see out of office. Party Chairman and U.D.P. Senator Michael Peyrefitte says the Minister of Home Affairs and his C.E.O. have got to go. Addressing the issue of crime and violence, Peyrefitte asserted that Minister Kareem Musa and C.E.O. Kevin Arthurs have failed to get the crime situation under control.

Michael Peyrefitte, Chairman, U.D.P.

“Following the vein of the Party Leader’s call just a while ago, there is no question about it at this time. Kareem Musa and Kevin Arthurs must go and go now. They must resign or the Prime Minister must remove them from their post. These two individuals had the most to say when they were in opposition. Now, they have the least to say that they are now in charge of the Ministry they claim to know so much about, when they were in Opposition. Imagine, for the first time in many years, you have a Ministry that deals with just the police, from a policy stand point. The New Growth Industry seems to be just marijuana, which is something that we have started laying the ground work for. But, it is primarily the police department that these two individuals are in charge of. And, they have utterly failed. Look back to their plan Belize statement on law enforcement when they initiated this before the November elections. This is the statement that they made. “This is an area plaque with internal problem and low levels of public confidence. There are few immediate solutions. But one year of intense and sustain actions moving in the right direction will make a huge different.”  Well, as Shane said earlier, it has been a year sir. So, either you have failed or you are admitting you have failed. Or you have failed to carry out intense and sustained actions moving in the right direction. Either way, you need to step down. Crime is out of control. Younger people are dying if you notice. Brazen robberies are on the rise. Silence from the leadership of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the police moral is at an all time low.”
