Shop theft caught on videotape

Story Picture
On Monday night, two men wearing stockings over their faces stormed into Luis store on Lizarraga Avenue in King’s Park and robbed Tie Lin Liang of seven hundred dollars. What they didn’t know was the owner who has been through this before was videotaping them. Liang who did not wish to appear on camera, says he was talking with two of his customers when the armed men ran in, jumped over the counter, pulled out a gun and ordered Liang to hand over money. The patrons made a hasty departure and Liang begged the men not to shoot him. One of the robbers told the frightened shopkeeper, “I don’t want to hurt you, just give me your money”. Without hesitation, Liang said he handed over four hundred dollars while the other man went over to the cash drawer and took three hundred dollars. The robbers also helped themselves to whatever change they could find. The video camera that captured the whole incident on tape was promptly handed over to the Criminal Investigation Branch. News Five tried to obtain a copy to show you the crime in progress, and see if any of our viewers recognized the two men, but we were turned down. However, the police have indicated that the tape has given them something to go on and they will keep us posted.
