Victim tells of brutal nighttime stabbing

Story Picture
Monday, when we first ran the story of a stabbing on Victoria Street in Belize City, a young man claimed to have seen an East Indian man creep up to the bed where Desiree Flowers was lying and stab her repeatedly. Now the victim is saying there was no stranger that it was this same supposed witness, Roland Small, who actually attacked her early Saturday morning. Even though the story has changed, a woman with thirteen stab wounds remains at the KHMH. From her hospital bed, Desiree tells her side of the story.

But I was screaming but no one did hear me and I get three in the stomach up near my chest and afterwards he gawn by the door, he thought that I was done dead already. “They asked me who did this? Whichin the young man was outside at the time, my mother was outside, but they neva know who was the person that did it until I call the name Roland. I know him because he was my friend.”

“Da three a we stay there sometimes cause he’s a child right and when he come deh and I accept him in the house, feed him and talk to him nicely. He respect me as an older person and thing so it come in very shocking to me that he did this to me.”

“I don’t know why he did it because then he, me and he neva have no quarrel or no misunderstanding for he do this to me. The only thing I ask him was why he did it? But he neva did respond.”

Seventeen-year-old Roland Small was charged this morning with attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm. Desiree Flowers is listed as stable at the KHMH. Flowers says she was at the house waiting for her boyfriend to return when the incident occurred. She says her boyfriend later told her that Small has a drug problem.
