Minister Musa Concerned about Murders of Minors
While only ninety murders have been recorded so far for 2021, it has not been a good year for minors. In fact, nine young people under eighteen years of age have been killed in this year alone. It’s a harrowing statistic that Minister Musa and his ministry remain concerned about.
Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs
“This year is exceptional because we have lost some young people. We lost Laddie Gillett; we lost Kassman Gill; we lost Dwayne Gabourel. It takes me back to the years where we lost Joshua Abraham. So it is really hurtful because we see where our young people are victims of these crimes and we need to do more as a department and as a country, as family unit – we need to protect young people more. So that has been the most challenging part of this year for me as minister; the fact that we have lost so many young people.”
Musa says that technology will continue to play a crucial role in crime fighting in the future.
