Two shot during robbery of tacos vendor
An early morning robbery on Sunday left two persons wounded. Around eight-thirty a.m. two thieves targeted the tacos stand at the corner of Banak Street and Central American Boulevard and attempted to rob the vendor of his earnings. It is attempted because the robbery turned into a shooting leaving one of the robbers injured. Twenty year old Alejandro Pech says that while attending to a patron, eighteen year old Tariq Tzul of West Street and a sixteen year old minor of Mayflower Street walked up and grabbed his money bag from behind the counter. A struggle ensued between Pech and Tzul, who reportedly told the minor to ‘bust some shots’ at Pech. One shot grazed Pech at the back of his right thigh, and another penetrated Tzul’s right ankle. The assailants fled the scene, but were later picked up by police.
And while police have the culprits in that shooting, they are looking for suspects in another shooting some six hours earlier. Shortly before three Sunday morning, thirty year old Rodwell Johnson of a Belize City address was walking on Euphrates Avenue when he was shot on the lower right leg. Johnson has since been treated and released from the hospital.
