Dr. Manza’s Post as DHS Officially Becomes Redundant

Former Director of Health Services, Doctor Marvin Manzanero, may be headed for retirement from public service since his role as Director of Health Services in the Ministry of Health and Wellness has been made redundant.  This follows the splitting of his former responsibilities which will now be shared by two senior health officials. But it is a case that is presently before the Ministry of the Public Service after the new legislation came into force last Friday. According to Minister of Health and Wellness Michel Chebat, Doctor Manzanero was initially offered one of the two new posts that have become available, but he reportedly declined.

“So that matter is now with the Ministry of the Public Service.  You know, the laws came into effect on Friday, November twelfth and so that is now with the Ministry of the Public Service and that matter will be dealt with there.”

Reporter

“Did he ever accept any of the posts?”

Michel Chebat

“No, he didn’t accept any of the positions.”

Reporter

“Those were never put in writing…”

Michel Chebat

“We did speak, I did speak to him personally and I did offer him one of the director positions.”

Reporter

“So what do you expect is going to happen?”

Michel Chebat

“I suspect that he, the position has now become redundant and so I suspect that he is going to be offered the benefit of the years of service to the medical [community], to the Ministry of Health and Wellness.”

Reporter

“So it’s like he’s being pushed out.”

Michel Chebat

“Not really, it’s a redundancy.  It’s common in law.”
