Retired Police Office Arrested Following Cocaine Discovery

A retired police officer is in hot water with the department he used to serve. Police say their search of a vehicle being driven by retired police officer Inez Castillo unveiled a kilo of cocaine in the back seat. The retired officer was detained and this morning he was formally charged for the crime of possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply. But that is not the end of the story. After investigators learnt that Castillo visited the Police Training Academy in Belmopan City shortly before he was busted with the drugs. He was reportedly there to drop off a senior police officer who went into retirement only yesterday. This information, according to A.C.P. Alford Grinage led investigators to conduct a search on the Police Training Academy grounds. Grinage hosted a special virtual press briefing this afternoon.

“During our investigation yesterday, it was learnt that Mr. Inez Castillo had dropped off a senior retired officer yesterday at the Police Training Academy. As such, upon the Commissioner being informed of such, he instructed that because he went to the residence of the Commandant of the Police Training Academy resident, that a search be conducted on that premises, which was done. I instructed that the K9 dogs proceeded to the residence along with the officers, after which a search was conducted in that premises. So we believe that was the only drug that was found, that was in the vehicle at that time.”

“Is it believed the Kilo may have been from the Bladen landing?”

“No sir, it is certainly not, because, all the drugs from the Bladen drug bust has been destroyed, except for samples that were taken out of those packages that should have, that is, will be kept into police evidence until we proceed at court. Also, the brand of that specific parcel is different from those ones found at the Bladden. So, we don’t suspect it is that, any at all.”
