ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communication Director, Belize Police Department
“I know that this person was found in a decomposed state sometime around 3:30 on Saturday. He was removed from the river in the Spanish Lookout Community and it is a clear complexioned male person. He was face-down of course and it looked like he got caught in some bamboos that were in the river. The initial investigation has said, so far investigators have said that he appeared to have a broken neck. We were unable to identify him so he is listed as John Doe and we have him at the Medical College lab where an examination is expected to be conducted. Hopefully when we put out the description of this person, maybe relatives will realize that they haven’t heard from him for a while and could assist in identifying who we have now as John Doe at the morgue.”
