Nazarene High School robbed

Story Picture
All too often we hear of shops being robbed, but schools? On Wednesday Nazarene high school employees were robbed at gunpoint and almost four thousand dollars taken. According to the school’s office manager Gilroy Audinett and secretary Gayle Gordon, a masked, barefoot man entered the main building around three forty-five in the afternoon through an open back door. He went into the office where he produced a handgun and demanded money. After three thousand dollars in cash and over 800 in registration vouchers was handed over the robber then tried to lock the two in a storage room but since the lock was broken, he turned and ran through the front door. There, eyewitnesses say, a red Aerostar van was waiting for him. The victims were not harmed and police have no suspects so far.

Three hours later, Extra House store manager was robbed just after leaving the store on Church Street. Store manager, Vinod Chawla, told News Five that he was walking on West Collect Canal around six forty-five when an unmasked Creole man approached him with a handgun and demanded that he lay on the ground. Chawla complied and the man took a moneybag containing three thousand dollars that Chawla was taking to the other Extra House on Orange Street. The man then ran away. The store manager says that before the incident occurred, the street was filled with people but as soon as they saw the gun, people quickly ran into nearby houses and stores leaving him to the mercy of his attacker. He escaped unharmed from the incident. No suspects have been arrested.
