PM Briceño Meets with the Chamber of Commerce
Prime Minister John Briceño, Minister of State Christopher Coye and Chief Executive Officer Narda Garcia met with the executive of the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday at the P.M.’s office here in Belize City. The sit-down covered a range of issues, including the reopening of Belize’s land borders. The Briceño administration has committed to resuming terrestrial traffic between Belize and Mexico, as well as Belize and Guatemala in early 2022 with specific measures in place to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Details of those protocols, however, are yet to be ironed out by cabinet and there is no official reopening date. Recommendations from the private sector organization will be taken into consideration in the formulation of those procedures. Also on the table were a series of reforms presently being undertaken by the Government of Belize.
