Combating Gender-Based Violence Needs Collective Approach
Minister Balderamos-Garcia invited every person and organization in Belize to join the campaign against gender-based violence and violence against women and children.
Dolores Balderamos-Garcia, Minister of Human Development, Families
“You may question why does this matter. Well, violence encompasses many forms, such as domestic violence, rape, sexual harassment and human trafficking, which unfortunately, seem to be increasing. Working and speaking out against gender-based violence is not something new. It’s something that we do every day at the Ministry of Human Development, Families and Indigenous People’s Affairs as well as all our partners. All of us must see it as our responsibility to identify ways to become involved because I am sure that you know someone who has experienced one of these forms of gender-based violence.”
The theme for this year’s sixteen days of activism is: You and Me, from Sixteen Days to Three Hundred and Sixty-five Days. End Violence Against Women Now.”
