No Foul Play Suspected in Caye Caulker Death
Today police also reiterated that they do not suspect any foul play in the sudden death of a twenty-six year old man from Caye Caulker. Joel Young died a few days ago when he collapsed at a home in the Bahia area of the island. Family members had told News Five they had heard he may have been shot, but today Compol Williams says they have no reason to suspect foul play.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“I think that is pretty straightforward, practically. He was running, I’m told and he jumped a fence and he may have dropped and hit his head. I don’t think that requires much from us, noh.”
Family members did confirm to News Five that Young had been using drugs prior to his death, and had no known medical conditions. Interestingly Canadian Jasmine Hartin who is awaiting trial for the shooting death of Police Superintendent Henry Jemmott in May, was reportedly residing at Young’s residence in Caye Caulker. Sources at the caye say she accompanied a family member to the hospital when his body was taken there the day of his death.
