State visit continues to Mexico
The Prime Minister’s visit to Mexico City continued today with meetings with the Belizean community and the Japanese Ambassador. Last night during a state dinner with President Ernesto Zedillo, Prime Minister Musa discussed the agreements reached yesterday which included cooperation for the Museum of Belize and the establishment of district houses of culture. Technical Education projects will also be carried out including district Centers for Employment Training, and additional scholarships are being made available for Belizeans to study in Mexico. Hospital improvements will also be a part of the package. Members of the private sector met with the Secretary of Trade and Commerce to express their concerns about possible trade agreements given the small size of the Belizean economy. The delegation of government officials and members of the business community will return to Belize on Sunday. The President of Mexico has also accepted an invitation to visit Belize in the next two to three months.
