Belize City School Among Caribbean Schools Chosen for Sagicor Adopt-a-School Initiative
Sagicor Insurance has adopted eight schools from across the Caribbean as a part of its Adopt-A–School initiative. In Belize, St. John’s Anglican Primary School was selected for developmental and educational support. The program will run for a period of one year. Thereafter, a second set of schools will be nominated and undergo the selection process. Sagicor held a virtual launch of the initiative this morning.

“There are four pillars and in each of the areas whatever work we are going to be doing will fall under one or more of these pillars. And the four pillars are, we have to impact the schools physical environment. We have to impact the health of the students. We also impact developmental and educational programmers as well. And then, finally, safety.”
Darlene Belgrave, Principal, St John’s Anglican
“Today is a great day for us here at St John Anglican. It is my honor to express our gratitude to Sagicor for selecting the St John’s Anglican Primary School to be the recipient of this timely, but very needed assistance.”
Ingrid Card, Sagicor
“The total cash value of the program is fifty thousand dollars US over the region. But, bear in mind, as I said, that is the cash component. There is also what we will be doing to support the health initiative with our students. There are other things, for example, all of our schools have already received pencils and book cases. Those have already been delivered. So, there are a number of things we plan to do. Program for Christmas with our Children, next year for in May we plan to have a number of initiatives in our schools. Bear in mind while cash is important and we will be spending over fifty thousand dollars, it is about spending time shaping lives.”
A total of eleven schools were nominated in Belize.
