Parents urged to send children to summer school
Yesterday, the Ministry of Education launched a summer long education program for students who have to repeat a year of primary school. But despite the fact that the parents were told by the teachers and principals of the various schools and notes were sent home, the classrooms at St. John’s Primary School this week were practically empty. According to teacher Dotsie Arnold, more than 400 students from the Belize District are on the master list but so far only 200 have made it to class. She is asking parents to cooperate for the benefit of the children.

“The problem is that many of the children whose names were submitted by their principals haven’t shown up. So we’re appealing to the parents to please come at St. John’s Infant School and check on the list to see if their children’s names are down and then they could get them started tomorrow.”
The program runs until the 30th of July and includes infant one to standard six.
