Infant drowns in Lord’s Bank

A one year old baby lost his life in Lord’s Bank this afternoon. According to Ladyville Police, the baby and a three year old sibling were left in the care of their eleven year old sister when their mother went to Belize City for the day. Around three o’clock, the baby wandered into the front yard and was found dead in a bucket of water by the three year old child. Police say there were no visible signs of violence on the body. The mother has yet to be located by police to be informed of the child’s death. Police say they do not know at this time if any charges will be filed against the mother. The death comes just two weeks after the National Organization for the Prevention of Child Abuse issued a public warning to parents that children under 13 years old are not mature enough to handle emergencies and that small children should never be left in the care of older ones.
