NTUCB Calls for Action on UN Treaty
The National Trade Union Congress of Belize is joining the international observance of International Anti-Corruption Day. This year’s theme is “Your right, your role: Say no to corruption”. To mark the day in Belize, the NTUCB is calling on the Briceno administration to take concrete action towards implementing the United Nations Convention against Corruption, which Belize signed onto five years ago, on November thirtieth, 2016. A release from the umbrella union organization says, “Belize has not made any major significant moves to fully implement UNCAC. The UNCAC Steering Committee has not yet met for the year 2021. Outstanding is the second cycle review in which Belize will be reviewed on Chapter two (Preventive Measures) and Chapter five (Asset Recovery) of the convention. The NTUCB calls on all Belizeans to do their part, exercise their right and utilize their role in saying NO to corruption.”
