Three flee San Pedro after shooting

Three men are still at large after a shooting and machete attack on San Pedro, Ambergris Caye yesterday evening which may have been drug related. David Jeron and Raymond “Peanuts” Smith told police they were clearing land around five thirty Wednesday evening, in the Boca del Rio area when Smith was attacked by two men with machetes. Jeron, who was some distance away, saw the scuffle and fled leaving Smith behind. Smith sustained a bullet wound to the neck and chest and a chop wound to the left arm and managed to crawl to some nearby houses. His attackers fled in a speed boat belonging to Jeron. The boat was recovered Wednesday night near the Swing Bridge in Belize City. Smith was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital this morning. Police believe drug trafficking is behind the attack and are asking for the public’s assistance in locating nineteen year old Jason Anthony, his eighteen year old brother Lincoln Anthony and eighteen year old Victor Garnett.
