Uptick in Tourism Numbers Expected in 2022

As we reported on Wednesday, Belize has been named as a top tourist destination in the Latin America and Caribbean for 2021. Minister of Tourism Anthony Mahler today gave a forecast for tourism numbers moving forward.

Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism & Diaspora Relations

Anthony Mahler

“We believe with the additional flights that we have coming in, we believe that with the efforts that we have been putting in marketing with our international partners and the airlines and with cruise, we believe that we are going to have a solid year. Now anything can happen if a new variant pops up and it is as aggressive as omicron or the delta, then we can have some issues, but we believe that people on a whole understand how to move, how to travel, how to operate in this new norm. So, we believe that 2022, we should see an uptick in tourism and we should be a little better off than we were in 2021.”
