Gimme Five Winner Cashes in at Bottom Dalla

Downtown shopping is at its peak, as thousands of Belizeans have descended on Albert Street and surrounding locations to make purchases ahead of the Christmas holidays.  At Bottom Dollar Store on North Front Street, one family strode the aisles picking up grocery items from shelves, but they didn’t pay a cent as they won a five-hundred-dollar gift certificate during Gimme Five.  This afternoon, News Five popped in on the shopping spree and has the following story.

‘tis the season to be jolly and the San Cas Group is spreading the Christmas cheer by giving away forty thousand dollars in cash and prizes to customers at their three locations.  In Belize City this afternoon, Terrence Woodye and his family filled two shopping carts with grocery items from Bottom Dollar.

“So we’re here today and we’re picking up some of the items from the winning.”

Last week, during Gimme 5’s annual celebration, his niece, Caitlyn Cal, won a spree when she entered her name in a raffle.

“It’s not my first time shopping here, I shop here every time and this is not my first time winning here.  I actually remember last year, we won a case of Dutch Lady liquid milk, but yes we come here every, not only during Christmas, but every time we come to do our grocery shopping.  But this year, through the Gimme 5 program, we have been doing this roughly about three years now and this year we won.  I had three of my nieces names and my daughter’s name, but the name that was called was Caitlyn Cal who is my niece, so we won the five hundred dollar shopping spree at Bottom Dollar.”

Aisha Trapp is the marketing manager at San Cas.  She describes various in-store activities that customers can participate in to win big this holiday season.

“We have about forty thousand Belize dollars that we are giving away in cash and prizes for this Christmas season.  So we have the Magnum promotion that will finish on December thirty-first and we have about fifty plus winners so far, they win every week.  The grand prize every week is four hundred dollars cash and we have consolation prizes and then on Tuesday we’ll be having our Dutch Lady raffle.  We have four lucky winners that will walk away with a thousand dollars each, cash.”

For the Woodye family, Christmas this year looks even better now that they have gotten their grocery shopping out of the way.

“Christmas was looking good but with this, we have four kids and we have a family of seven, so definitely with these groceries it will help us a great deal.  So it’s looking good. I definitely want to thank Bottom Dollar for this gesture of allowing us and for receiving the gift of shopping here for five hundred dollars and I want to thank all those people and we know we’re in the Christmas season so I just want to reach out to everyone to say a Merry Christmas and season’s greetings and I wish the best for everyone else as well.”

On Saturday, downtown shoppers can stop in at Bottom Dollar to take part in the Christmas festivities.  Trapp tells us more.

“We’re going to have our annual Christmas Bram right here in Bottom Dollar where customers can, you know, take advantage of up to fifty percent off some household items and we’re going to be doing mini-raffles all day.  Now check us out in People’s Store and Save-U for wonderful promotions with Campari and also we are going to be having a scratch ticket giveaway in the People’s Store and Save-U tomorrow.”
