Taxi driver robbed
A Belize City taxi driver was beaten and robbed on Saturday night. Glennstein Martinez told Police that around 9:30 p.m. a man later identified as Percival Pilgrim got into his taxi asking to go to Faber’s Road. In front of WAVE Radio station, however, Pilgrim allegedly pushed his hand into a bag and pointed something at Martinez. Pilgrim then ordered Martinez to take him to mile 8 on the Western Highway. The taximan did so, but once there, Pilgrim reportedly hit him in the head with a soft drink bottle, stole a gold chain from Martinez valued at $1,500 and ran off. As luck would have it a police patrol happened to be passing by and picked up Pilgrim. He was charged with two counts of wounding, one count of robbery and common assault.
