Prime Minister Shares Christmas Message

John Briceño

We end tonight’s newscast with an excerpt from Prime Minister John Briceño’s Christmas message.  He reminds us to use the season as an opportunity to resolve our differences and to celebrate friends, family, and fun.

Prime Minister John Briceño

“Season’s greetings. How I love the holiday seasons, because even across our political divide, beyond the social and economic disagreements, there is one thing for sure and that is the light of Christ is greater. In this spirit of Christmas, let us press forward to solutions for our conflicts. Around the world, and across our regions, in every city, town and village, we celebrate the birth of our savior, the boy form Bethlehem. On this day full of light the prophetic proclamation from Isaiah Chapter nine resounds, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government is on his shoulder. And, his name will be called wonderful counselor, might God, everlasting father, prince of peace”. In Belize, we have strong culture and spiritual foundation of wishing each other a blessed and merry Christmas. Each time we do this we affirm the gift of love and peace Christmas is a time to celebrate family, friendship and joy. It is a time when we celebrate food and drink, laughter and love. The poet Maya Angelou said, “We clap hands and welcome the peace of Christmas. We beckon this season to wait a while with us. In essence, this is the season when we love others. We, not me, make Christmas possible. So, from my family to yours, I wish you all a blessed, safe and merry Christmas.”
