Friend of murdered girl says she is being unfairly detained

With a suspect arrested for the murder of Jackie Malic and the FBI testing the remains of two other murdered children, the pressure is on to solve the murder of fifteen year old Samantha Gordon. Her body was found in November in the water near Vista Del Mar. The Criminal Investigations Branch has redoubled its efforts to find the killer, however, News Five has received two complaints about their methods of questioning, or more specific, the police practice of detaining people for up to, or even longer than the seventy-two hours as allowed by the constitution. 17 year old Ann Bradley told News Five that ever since the murder of her friend Samantha Gordon, police have repeatedly picked her up and detained her for questioning. She says she has told them over and over that she was not with her friend the night of the murder and does not know what happened to Gordon yet they persist. She says she was picked up again on Tuesday June 22nd and put in a cell at the Mesopotamia Police Station and held until Friday evening, June 25th.

“They just come and pick me up all the time; every time they just come and pick me up. They don’t tell me anything, they just question me. The next thing they tell me, that three witnesses say they see me with this girl going in a car and I know it is not true because I was at home.

They don’t have anything else to ask me but if it is true that I was with the young lady, why I don’t admit it? I can’t say something that I don’t know or I know I did not do.”

Attorney Dean Barrow told News Five he made repeated attempts last week to get police to release Bradley, but to no avail. A.I.P. Simeon Alvarez, the Head of C.I.B. told News Five that they picked up Ann Bradley to, in his words, “tie up lose ends” and see if she had any additional information which would help in their investigation, which he says is ongoing. Alvarez said he was not certain about the status of another person detained by police in connection with the investigation, Warren Cabral, who was picked up on Monday. On Friday night Cabral’s mother-in-law Marcia Lemmot called News Five to report that the family believed he was still being detained by police since they had no word from him since Monday. Samantha Gordon was last seen on the night of November sixth when she went to a basketball game. It is believed that following the game she got into a car to go to a house party in Ladyville but either later that night or early Saturday morning she was murdered and dumped in the sea near Vista Del Mar.
