International dance concert at Bliss
This weekend the Belize Arts Council has a special event you and your family may want to attend. The event is a dance exhibition featuring Cuban and American dancers including members of the talented Belize National Dance Company. There will also be musical performances. According to Gregory Vernon, Dance Coordinator for the Arts Council they are hoping Friday night’s performance will inspire many to attend their upcoming summer camp in July.
Gregory Vernon, Dance Coordinator
“Tomorrow what we have is, we have the Cuban professors, we have the two Cuban professors who will be dancing. We have an American professor from the University of Santa Clara who will be doing an exhibition along with his graduating student. And also we have the Cuban percussionist who will be doing some music.
So it will be a very rounded performance along with the Belize National Dance Company doing their new choreographs that were taught by these Cuban professors.”
Q: “Why did you decide to put together this exhibition?”
Gregory Vernon
“We wanted to show off the Cuban professors and of course going into our summer camp workshop that we will be touring the entire country of Belize this summer coming in July. We will be stopping off in each district. We needed to show the public what we are doing here at the Arts Council.”
The dance exhibition at the Bliss Institute begins at seven thirty, Friday night. Tickets are available at the door for five dollars for adults and one dollar for children.
