Missing Man Found Dead
An elderly labourer of Succotz Village, Cayo District, who went missing on Boxing Day, was found dead earlier today in the Mopan River, between miles seventy-one and seventy-two, near Nabitunich Farm. The body of sixty-four-year-old Ciriaco Felipe Cocom was reportedly found by his son, Amilcar Misael Cocom, shortly after six this morning floating in the Mopan River, not far from the farm. Police sources say that the body had injures to the forehead. The corpse was facing down, shirtless, and the trousers were around the ankles, fastened by the man’s belt. Cocom was reportedly with his common-law-wife, Saturnina Valencia, on Christmas Day, but went missing the day after. A post mortem examination is scheduled to determine his cause of death.
