Cocaine found in prison cells
Two inmates of the Hattieville Department of Corrections have been arrested and charged with drug trafficking. A search was conducted on the persons of Cecil Gill and Mark Diaz by prison officials after they were allowed a trip to Belize City on June seventeenth. The officials say they found approximately four ounces of cocaine on each of the inmates.
Four other persons were charged with drug trafficking after a police search of their vehicle revealed nearly two pounds of crack cocaine. According to a police report, on Friday Edward Arnold, Charles Trapp, Dean Tillett and Earl Henry were arrested when police found a black plastic bag containing the drug in a car they were travelling in.
2.1 kilos of cocaine was also found near Calabash Caye on Friday. According to Lieutenant Michael Joseph of the Maritime Wing, a patrol near the southern area of the Caye located a package floating in the water and retrieved it. The contents were turned over to the police. No one was seen in the area and no one has been arrested.
