CGA Holds AGM on State of Citrus Industry
The citrus industry has been embattled for several years, amid disease, and inner turmoil amongst growers. This morning, the Citrus Growers Association, the representative organization for a majority of growers in the Stann Creek District, held its annual general meeting at the C.G.A. Compound near Pomona. A number of items were on the agenda, including a report by the Chairman of Belize Citrus Growers Association Investment Company Limited pertaining to the sales and purchase agreement with Homeland Investments Limited. Also on the agenda was a motion to accept the resignation of all members of the Committee of Management and to elect nine new committee of management members. Likewise, the statements of account and audited reports from the Committee of Management for the period of October first, 2016 to October thirty-first, 2020 were presented for review. Finally, among other items tabled, was a vote on a resolution for the sale of shares of Citrus Products of Belize Limited to Homeland Investments. News Five made several attempts today get a comment from the C.G.A., but we were unsuccessful. We’ll have more on this in Wednesday’s newscast.
