C.S.C.P.A. A.G.M. Elects New Officers
In Corozal this morning, a group from the Corozal Sugar Cane Producers Association was on standby awaiting the removal of Chairman Vladimir Puck and his Board of Directors from the C.S.C.P.A building. As viewers may recall, member Everaldo Uk had called a Special A.G.M. on Sunday. At that meeting, Uk was elected as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors. Along with Uk, an entirely new Board of Directors was elected. But, Vladimir Puck and his team reportedly refused to leave the building, because they do not recognize the newly elected Board of Directors as being legitimate. Neither do they recognize the election that was held as being legal and in accordance with the Association’s by-laws. But according to Uk, the need for a special A.G.M. and an election derives directly from allegations that Chairman Puck and his Board of Directors has not called an election for more than three years. News Five spoke to Everaldo Uk over the phone about the outcome of this weekend’s A.G.M.

“Well, we are here in the side of the road waiting for a takeover, but we are finding that the past Chairman has some cane farmers with him, and um we are expecting a call so that the police officers can move you know. We are waiting for that call.”

“A call from the Minister of Agriculture so that we can start the takeover.”

“Tell me what happened yesterday?”
Everaldo Uk
“Yesterday, the meeting was called to order by the hundred members that is required by the by-laws, C.S.C.P.A. by laws, 2015, the original and only by law.”

“And how many people attended?”
Everaldo Uk
“We were expecting the hundred members that is the requirement at a quorum, hundred members. And, due to COVID, we did not want to expose our membership with a big crowd. So, the plan was to take out hundred and a bit more. So, that it was happened”.

“And you held an election?”
Everaldo Uk
“We had an election, because we had the quorum as is required by the by-laws of the association, of the original and only by-law, 2015.”

“So you have a new board of director by law?”
Everaldo Uk
“We have a new Board of Directors yes.”
Paul Lopez
“The current board of directors must not be taking this well.”
Everaldo Uk
“Well, it is not the current; it is a purported Board of Directors. They don’t want to step down. We have a lot of work to do, we need to enter the office and start moving ahead with the work, because crop is on right now, and we need to comply with certain requirement from the industry.”
