Will Villanueva-Pott Run Again?
This is village council election year, so News Five asked the chairlady of Caye Caulker if she will re-contest. After all, Seleny Villanueva-Pott is a two-term village council chairlady and the fourth in her family to hold the post. She says yes, if she has the support of Belize Rural South Area Representative, Andre Perez and Prime Minister John Briceño.

“Duane you have been tampering me with this question and I have been dodging it. Really, Duane, there is work still to be finished. It is a village council year; we still don’t know when the elections will be. But to be honest, leadership under COVID has been very life-changing; your perspective of a lot of things change. Your focus really becomes the people. And the only way I will run again is if I get the support from my party, from my area rep and, of course, from the Prime Minister. But I will not contest any convention. I think it is too much to go through a convention. I would prefer get their support and have that done. If it happens, I will.”
