Red Cross trainer gives workshop
Visiting Belize this week is the Millennium Year Coordinator of the International Red Cross in Geneva, Joanna MacLean. During her four-day visit MacLean will be conducting a leadership and management symposium for Red Cross executives and volunteers at Red Cross Headquarters. According to MacLean those attending the workshop will understand the role the Belize Red Cross plays in the International Red Cross Society.

“The objective is to give background information on the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. How they work? How they developed? How they function and how they are linked? So here is a possibility to give back an understanding to how the whole movement functions. It is recognition and a broad understanding of how Belize fits into the whole Red Cross movement and what they offer to the international dialogue.”
MacLean leaves Belize on Monday for the Red Cross International Conference of the Americas in the Dominican Republic. Belizean representatives to the conference are Red Cross’s First Vice President Eamon Courtenay and Youth Coordinator Denise Nisbet.
