Junior athletes seek funding for Guatemala competition
Thirty-five junior athletes will be going for the gold in the Central American Championships on June eleventh. The final team, which was selected on Wednesday, will be participating in track events ranging from the 100 meter and long distance events to high jumps and shot put. According to the secretary of the Belize Amateur Athletic Association, Joycelyn McKoy, although the team is still trying to acquire the finances to cover the expenses of the trip, and needs uniforms and airfare to Guatemala, they still workout on a daily basis at the National Stadium. Anyone wishing to help sponsor the team or make donations is asked to contact the Athletic Association’s President Nelson Hyde at 77085 or Joycelyn McKoy at 31913.
