B.T.B.: Omicron Has Not Heavily Impacted Cruise Tourism

Minster Mahler also spoke about the cruise tourism industry amidst the spread of the Omicron variant. Unlike the devastating standstill experienced in 2020, he says Omicron did not pose any major threat to the sector. In fact, he says only two ships did not dock in Belize.

Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relation

“It was a very short wave and we expected that just from the information we have gotten. But, cruise tourism is rebounding strongly. I think the important thing is that we have shown the cruise industry that we are ready to work with them and that we are ready to build the protocols in place so that people can cruise safely throughout this part of the world.”
