Miss Universe Pageant tonight

Tonight is the night when Miss Belize, Viola Jeffery, will grace the stage with eighty-four other beautiful young ladies in the forty eighth annual Miss Universe Pageant. According to Miss Universe Belize’s Pageant Coordinator, Soli Arguelles, Jeffery has taken part in the pageant’s dress rehearsal, costume parade and fashion show and she is currently in very high spirits. A chaperon did not accompany Jeffery to Trinidad but Mike and Kim Staine, Belizeans living there are close by her side. Tonight the final contest in the pageant will take place in the Universe Centre in Chaguaramas, Trinidad, where Miss Universe ’99 will be selected. Arguelles has received a television from Courts so that Miss Belize’s greatest fans, the inmates at Hattieville Prison, could catch a glimpse of her tonight.
