A man was shot in his head on Monday night. Amazingly, while he suffered serious injury and remains hospitalized, he survived the attack. News Five Marion Ali was in Orange Walk today and files this report.

Hernan Godoy, an employee of Cal’s Bakery in Trial Farm Village, Orange Walk was reportedly packing bread inside the bakery at seven forty-five p.m., when a barrage of bullets ripped through the open door. One of the slugs struck Godoy in the right side of the forehead and remains lodged in his skull. One of his relatives told News Five off-camera that she was not far away when the shots rang out.

When I heard the shots I thought it was palomitas, when I tell my daughter who is popping palomitas at this time. She look at me and said “Mom, that’s not palomitas. That’s gunshots. Close the door!” When I hear the guy from inside the bakery saying “Miss Cal, they shoot me, they shoot me! I got hit! Call the police! Call my pa!” When I peep I see he’s holding his forehead and he’s pouring blood.”
Miraculously, Godoy is listed in stable condition and is reportedly able to eat. Doctors are conducting CT scans on his head to determine the extent of the injury. Police, meanwhile, are gathering whatever evidence they can to solve this latest case of attempted murder. But what triggered the incident is what has investigators and the victim’s family puzzled.

“First time we di experience this and the boy is no kind of guy that is finding (looking for) problems. He comes to work at nine he comes out at nine or sometimes at ten, depends on what time he finishes packing bread because he’s the one that packs all the bread from morning.”
Scenes of Crime personnel have collected five expended nine millimeter shells from the scene.
