School of the Deaf principal charged with sexual assault
In other crime news, the former principal of the School for the Deaf Calbert Linares was arrested and charged today with indecent assault. A couple of months ago allegations surfaced that several past students had reported he sexually molested them ten years ago. No charges were filed, but according to A.I.P. Simeon Alvarez, they have new evidence of sexual misconduct.

“We got a report from a student. He reported to us that some time on the 25th March of this year he was called to attend school. And sometime around four p.m. Mr. Linares took him to a room downstairs where he had sexual intercourse with him against the order of nature. So he was charged with indecent assault.”
Linares was given bail at the sum of four thousand dollars. When the scandal broke, Linares was removed as principal of the School for the Deaf.
