Tax inspector charged
Income Tax Department employee twenty-six year old Richard Staine was today charged with theft after allegedly embezzling almost three thousand dollars. According to police, last week Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax Eric Eusey, became suspicious of a voucher made for an employee of Central Bank. When the department staff checked, Central Bank told them he did not work there. When the individual was contacted he said he had not even file an income tax return. Staine, an income tax inspector, was questioned and denied any wrong doing but he later admitted this type of activity had been occurring since last year. Police are continuing their investigation to determine how many false returns had been filed and try to determine the total amount of money which may have been stolen. Staine could face additional charges if this evidence is found.
