Search on for Coastal Road bandits
One man has been arrested, but two others are still at large after an armed hold-up on the Coastal Road last week. Police have charged a Dangriga resident Leon Castillo with three counts of attempted murder, and deadly means of harm after the manager of Paradise Shrimp Farm reported that on May 14th two armed masked men stopped his Chevy Blazer on the Coastal Road and fired shots into the vehicle. One of the bullets caught passenger Elwin Ariola in the neck and shoulder. The assailants then demanded the payroll for the shrimp farm amounting to over 14 thousand dollars and stole the Blazer. It was later found abandoned at an orchard at Long Bank with bullet holes to the windshield. Ariola was treated at the Dangriga Hospital and later transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City. Police are looking for Eccleston Bonilla, otherwise known as “Bas” of Dangriga and Clifford Caballero of Hopkins in connection with the incident.
