Festival of Arts tickets going fast

Story Picture
Has your child been donning costumes, singing or dancing around the house and waiting for your applause? Well maybe your little one is practicing for the Festival of Arts. And maybe you should get your tickets because this year it’s not only the Golden Nights performances that are sold out. Arreini Palacio has some highlights of the festival so far.

It may be two days since the performing arts section started, but the creativity of Belizean children is already glowing as they perform for sold out audiences at the Bliss Institute. According to the Arts Council’s Public Relations Officer, Anita Cheong, some changes have been made this year in the scheduling of performances.

“In years gone by we had music, drama and dance in one night, but this year we have one full week of music instrumentals and music vocals until May 29th. Next week it will be dance and drama.”

But whatever the type of performance, the children would not have made it to the stage, or even to their seats in the audience without the help of the schools, the community and the sponsors.

The corporate sponsors are helping to provide tickets as well as bus transportation to the Bliss.

“We have UNICEF, Brothers Habet, Belize Tourism Board, Simon Quan, Belize Electricity Limited. Those are the sponsors for the festival.”

Repeats of the golden performances such as last night’s winners Jason Thompson and Kory Hinks of Grace Primary School, Arecia Evelyn of St. Ignatius School and St. John Vianney School will be seen from the fourth to the fifth of May. Arreini Palacio for News Five.

The Belize Arts Council is urging everyone to get their tickets well before the performance they want to see since they are going fast.
