C.D.B. President Begins Visit with Central Bank Meetings
The President of the Caribbean Development Bank is on his inaugural visit to Belize. On Monday, Dr. Gene Leon met with Christopher Coye, Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development, and Investment. According to the Government of Belize Press Office, Minister Coye welcomed the C.D.B. team and President Leon underscored the C.D.B.’s commitment to assisting member countries in improving people’s lives and securing a sustainable future for the region’s children. The discussion at the Central Bank included updates on the state of Belize’s economy, developments in the financial sector, potential areas for C.D.B. support, the need for collaboration between the public and private sectors to promote economic expansion, regional integration, and areas for strengthening the relationship between Belize and the C.D.B. The Central Bank was represented by Sidney Campbell, Chairman of the Board, and Emory Ford, Manager of the Research Department. Minister Coye was joined by Joseph Waight, Financial Secretary; Dr. Osmond Martinez, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Economic Development; and Karlene McSweaney, Economist, Policy and Planning Unit, Ministry of Economic Development.
