Child molested at police station
Disturbing details are emerging about an instance of child molestation that occurred at a place most people feel children should be safest of all: a police station. Sources tell News Five that on Sunday a seven year old boy was attacked by a known child molester at the Belmopan Police Station. Reports are that the child was found wandering at the market that day and was taken to the station. Despite repeated requests by the clerical staff that the child be taken home, officers apparently did not see this as a priority and while they left the child to wait, a trustee prisoner at the station, identified as Kirk Sedacy began to gain the child’s confidence. Sedacy, who was free to move about the station, is reported to have made tea for the child and offered to let him lay down in his sleeping area. When the boy complied, it is alleged he began removing the child’s clothing. A female officer noticed what was occurring and called for assistance from the male officers upstairs, but they did not respond and Sedacy fled. An investigation into the incident is underway. Sedacy is facing charges of indecent assault after a report by a twelve year old girl in January.
