Land Offered for Youth Farming
A private land owner has reportedly offered one hundred and twenty acres of land to the Government of Belize for long term leasing. The purpose? To create agricultural opportunities for at- risk youths. William Dawson, the Chairman of the Leadership Intervention Unit accompanied Kareem Musa, the Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries, and Richard Rosado, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, on the trip along the bank of the Belize River, near Grace Bank Village to visit the property. Here is a brief statement from Dawson on this latest development.
William Dawson, Chairman, L.I.U.
“We are looking at the multi-sectoral approach that we have in place. So, we are going to be reaching out to our partners as to the development of the property and getting that support and input to garner the level of support that we need to make this thing come to fruition. So, the biggest step in all of this is to acquire the land. We are getting the land, so all we need to do now is to look at our partners and stakeholders in this regard to make sure all of this happens in the quickest time possible.”
