Pull up those Traps: Lobster Season Closes February 28th

If you love lobster, you better buy it or order it at your favorite restaurant within the next few days. The season closes February twenty-eighth and does not reopen until June thirtieth. The Fisheries Department is reminding the public this spiny lobster closed season aligns with the regional lobster regulations implemented by the Organization for Central American Fisheries and Aquaculture Sector. Any one in possession of lobster during the closed season will be prosecuted in accordance with the Fisheries Resources Act, Revised Edition 2020. The Fisheries Department also reminds fishers that lobster traps should be removed from fishing grounds during the closed season. The Department will be actively enforcing the removal of traps from the waters during this period.
