Turtle Shell at Center of Machete Wounding

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood

Two Lemonal cousins got in a dispute over a turtle shell, and it turned violent.  William Bull alleges that he caught Ryan Sutherland attempting to steal the shell from his yard. When he confronted Sutherland, a physical altercation with a machete reportedly ensued, leaving Sutherland injured.

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Director, Belize Police Department

“We know that sometime around six forty p.m. on the nineteenth of February a thirty five year old farmer stated that he went home and found Ryan Sutherland, his cousin, taking a turtle shell from his property without his permission. Mr. Bull also reported that he asked Mr. Sutherland to just leave his property. This is when an argument ensued between him and Mr. Sutherland, where he was chopped. He was treated and released from the K.H.M.H. since. Mr. Sutherland is detained pending charges.”
