“Sometime around five forty three p.m. on Sunday, police received information of a fatal traffic accident somewhere near the Maya Center Village. Officers responded to the area but when they got there, they couldn’t establish any scene. When Dangriga police informed the other officers that was looking for the scene that a young lady, Iris Miranda was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital, with injuries to her head and body consistent with R.T.A., investigators went to the Southern Regional Hospital where they saw the lifeless body of Iris Miranda. We have since detained the driver of a Ford Escape, who was driving the vehicle. It is alleged that while travelling to that location Ms. Iris exited the vehicle while it was still in motion. We are investigating Ms. Miranda’s death and treating it as a death investigation/homicide, until we can prove otherwise.”
