CYDP employee locked up for illegal ammunition
There was an early morning bust conducted by police on the Southside of Belize City that led to the discovery of ammunition and the five persons present at home were arrested and charged by police for unlicensed ammunition. In the raid, police found the ammunition hidden in a blue bag hidden in the fence of a residence on Armadillo Street. Present at the time of the search were brother and sister, twenty-eight year old Bruce Harvey and twenty-eight year old Melody Harvey, twenty-one year old Oliver Rodriguez, twenty-eight year old Jose Obando and twenty-three year old Nicole Bell. Today all five persons appeared before Magistrate Aretha Ford. Bruce Harvey, who is an employee of CYDP, took the rap for the charges saying the ammunition belonged to him. As a result, Bruce was sentenced to four years jail term. The four others charged were not released because the D.P.P. could not be reached. They were remanded into custody at the Queen Street Police Station and will be brought back to court. Bruce Harvey also owes the court five hundred dollars and will be spending five months in prison in default of payment.
