An Update on Investigation on COST Team & Commander Vidal
Back in December, the Security Services Commission gave its approval for Assistant Commissioner of Police Marco Vidal to be suspended for sixty days with pay as they did an investigation into his administrative misconduct. This was after several members of the Commander of Operations Strike Team, came under suspicion for possible involvement in the November fourth drug plane landing near Bladen in southern Belize. Today, ComPol Chester Williams gave an update on the status of that case involving the officers and their commander.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“In respect to the junior officers, those matters are before the tribunal as well as the court. And in respect to the senior officer, Mister Vidal, we have submitted everything to the C.E.O. who then takes charge in ensuring that the show cause letter is sent to Mister Vidal and he has time to reply to the show cause letter. And based on the reply of the show cause letter, then it is determined whether the matter goes before the services commission or it comes to an end there.”
