Full Salary for Public Officers and Teachers Coming… Gradually
Teachers and public officers could see their full annual salaried being restored within the new fiscal year. This morning, Dean Flowers, President of the Public Service Union broke the news on Open Your Eyes Morning Show. According to Flowers, on Wednesday the Joint Union Negotiating Team received a commitment from the Government of Belize to that end.

“What we got yesterday was a commitment from the government that the ten percent salary will be restored gradually during the current fiscal year. There was absolutely no specific percentage, or incremental percentage, or stages that were provided in terms of, at what point within the fiscal year would we be fully resorted to ten percent. But, the commitment now is that within fiscal year 2022, 2023 the government is committed in restoring the ten percent and we cannot at this moment say that we will give you in one drop. It may be in two or three I don’t know. Cabinet, as we now know, are meeting today and tomorrow. And, I understand coming out of that session will be a definitive decision on what are the stages in which the ten percent will be resorted within this coming fiscal year.”
