Youth shot by B.D.F.

Story Picture
In police news, twenty-two year old Rodwell “Granny” Tasher lies in a critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after allegedly being shot by a B.D.F. corporal on police patrol Thursday night. Police tell News Five that Tasher was stopped at the corner of Monroe and Boots Crescent and when the officers began searching him he put up a struggle and tried to reach for the gun. They say it went off hitting Tasher. However, the Amandala newspaper is reporting a very different account, saying Tasher was being chased by a white police patrol truck. According to the article, Tasher hid in some bushes at the corner of the two streets. It is there the Amandala says eyewitnesses claim the patrol vehicle moved off leaving the B.D.F. soldiers to guard the area. Thinking the path was clear, it is reported Tasher emerged from his hiding spot with his hands in the air. But as the young man walked towards the soldiers he made a run for it. That’s when witnesses claim one of the soldiers opened fire, hitting Tasher in several parts of his body. The young man was then rushed to the K.H.M.H. Tasher, who received shots to his neck, chest and stomach, underwent surgery and is today reported to be in a very critical condition.
