Anteater found by children
News Five often receives calls from viewers about large snakes or crocodiles found near homes. But today, we got a call about a more unusual animal: an anteater. Some children on Sarstoon Street found the animal in a tree. Efforts were made to contact the Belize Zoo and Humane Society since neighbors feared it might die because of the way it was being handled. News Five was able to reach Dr. Michael DeSheild from the Animal Medical Centre who is also a member of the Humane Society. He expressed concern about the anteater’s safety and promised that he would go and pick it up.
