Missing girl found but won’t go home
A Queen’s Square Primary School student who skipped school yesterday and made her way to Ladyville is in the care of the Social Services Department. A school truant officer noted the twelve year old’s absence around 11:30 and she was found this morning at her aunt’s home in the Boston area of Ladyville. Family members told police that the girl arrived around 2 p.m. on Tuesday and refused to go home. She has since told police she fled because she is being beaten at home. The girl’s mother, who lives on East Canal, told police she left the girl and three other smaller children home at 3 a.m. because she had to go to work. She was unaware the child had not gone to school. At the moment the minor is in protective care while the situation is being examined.
